The Northstar Series Touring Event, originally scheduled for
this Saturday at the Jackson Speedway, has been rescheduled for Saturday, June
1st, when it will be combined with the annual Dominick Bruns
Memorial Race.
Jackson Speedway Promoter Jon McCorkell said the rain and
snow that fell within the last week has caused a delay in work that is normally
done on the track.
McCorkell says they have added new dirt, to the historic
half-mile at the Jackson County Fairgrounds.
He said the new dirt will provide a racier surface for the upcoming
season, but because of the extended winter and lack of drying days, the track
preparation team has been physically unable to get equipment on the track to
compact and grade the new dirt into the race surface.
The Folkens Brothers Trucking Spring Sprint Car Nationals,
which was originally scheduled for April 19th, but postponed to May
18th because of the weather, has been delayed again. The new date for that event is Wednesday,
June 26th.
For now, the regular season opener is set for Saturday, May
25th, with the Annual Armed Forces Appreciation Night. Hot Laps will start at 6 p.m., with racing to
follow.
