Former Emmetsburg softball prep, Maddison Woodruff, now playing for Coe College in Cedar Rapids was named 2013 IIAC Pitcher of the Year. The junior posted a 15-2 record, a 2.06 ERA, 130 strikeouts, four shutouts and 6 complete games. She ranks second among IIAC pitchers in strikeouts, third in wins and sixth in opposing batting average and innings pitched.
Her 130 strikeouts this season rank 15th in school history, while her 15 wins rank 17th. Both are career single season highs and she became the fourth player in school history with three or more seasons of 100 plus strikeouts.
On Thursday in the D3 regionals in Pella, Coe lost 7-6 in 10 innings to Washington St. Louis and will play Bethany Lutheran on Friday.
