The State High School Track Meet starts Thursday, in Des Moines, and the
Spirit Lake Park Boys Track Team will be well-represented, after their
performance, last Thursday at Districts.
Automatic qualifiers for the Indians include Will Norris, in
the 800,1600 and 3200 meter runs; Tyler Peterson in the 110 meter hurdles;
Austin Folsom in the long jump; and Cody Poock in the shot put.
The relay team of Poock, Peterson, Folsom, and Bryson McCabe
qualified in both the 4×100 and the 4×200.
Two other automatic qualifying relay teams were the 4×800
team of Norris, Mark Norland, Tanner Goetsch and Paul Woizeschke; and the
Medley team of Norland, McCabe, Folsom, and Blake Enderson.
Additionally, Bryson McCabe has qualified, for Spirit Lake
Park in the 100 Meter
Dash.
As for the Okoboji boys, Jacob Sauter was an automatic
qualifier in both the shot put and the discus.
Other automatic qualifiers, for the Pioneers, include Chris Albright in the 400 hurdles; Jordan Hanna in the 1600 meter run; Joe Hilsabeck in the 800 meter run; the 4×400
relay team of Albright, Tyeson Barnett, Taylor Cody, and Mark Nielsen. Cody qualified with a second place finish in
the 400 meter run; the 4×800 team of Hanna, Cody, Hilsabeck and Dakota
Kraninger; and the Medley relay team of Hanna, Barnett, Nielsen, and Gabe
Goehring.
Additional qualifiers, for the Pioneers boys, include Cody,
in the 400 meter dash; and the 4×200 Meter Relay Team of Barnett, Goehring,
Nielsen, and Jacob Orbiton.
The Spirit Lake Park Girls Track team had four automatic
qualifiers because of the first or second place finishes in last week’s
District Meet. They are Emma Dau, in the
long jump; Jenna McCoy, in the high jump; Dondi Schmidt, in the 1500 meter run;
and Kendra Stokke, in the 400 Meter hurdles.
The additional qualifiers are McCoy, in both the 100 Meter
Hurdles and the long jump; Taylor Sieperda, in the 400 meter dash; the 4×100
Shuttle Relay team of McCoy., Stokke, Miranda Brueggeman, and Kaela Delperdang;
the 4×800 team of Schmidt, Dau, Sieperda, and Mikey Heikens.
Mariah Wills is an alternate on the 4×800 relay team. Elly Watje is an alternate on the Shuttle
Hurdle relay.
For the Okoboji Girls, automatic qualifiers were Darby
Jones, in the high jump; and the 4×200 relay team of Jones, Jordan
Duncan, Kim Knaajas, and Olivia Albright.
The 4×100 team of Jones, Duncan, Knaajas, and Hannah
Grosvenor was an additional qualifier.
The Estherville-Lincoln Central Boys Track Team will be well
represented, this weekend at the State Track meet.
Justin Heinrichs has qualified in the 400 meter hurdles; as
has the 4×800 relay team of Joe Heinrichs, Blake Gjerde, Rodrick Fuller, and
Tyler Swanson.
Another qualifier, for the Midgets, is Boys Distance Medley
Relay team of Andres Blanco, Adam Reiter, Matt Burrell, and Joe Heinrichs;
also, the Boys 4×110 Meter Shuttle Hurdle relay team of Alec Wycoff, Michael
McCauley, Matt Burrell, and Justin Heinrichs.
Caitlyn Clayton has qualified, in the shot put for the
Estherville-Lincoln Central Girls.
Hartley-Melvin Sanborn’s Brett Waechter qualified in the
discus, and Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire’s Marly Bakken will compete in
the shot put.
