Nighthawks Edge Okoboji Baseball, 6-5


Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley came from
behind to beat Okoboji in Siouxland Conference baseball Monday night 6-5 in
Milford. The
Pioneers trailed 2-0 early but tied things up in the third and used two hits and
an error to score three in the third to take a 5-2 lead. The Nighthawks would
chip away though, scoring two in the fifth and sixth each.

Jerod Hansen got the
win for B-H/RV. He pitched the final 3 and 2/3 innings, giving up no runs on two
hits, while striking out 4. Hansen relieved Chris Sietstra who pitched the first
3 and 1/3 innings, giving up all five Pioneer runs (three earned), walking two,
and striking out three. Tyler Dolieslager led the Nighthawks offense, going
2-for-3 with a single, a double, and 4 RBI. B-H/RV is 14-5 (9-2 Siouxland) and
face MOC-Floyd
Valley Wednesday. Okoboji’s
Houston Hawkins took the loss on the mound. Hawkins pitched a solid six innings,
giving up all 6 runs on 9 hits, walking, three and striking out four. Dalton
Syverson pitched the final inning in relief, giving up just a walk and striking
out two. Keaton Jones led the Pioneer offense, going 2-for-2 with a walk and two
runs scored. Alex Heller and Noah Bouse each had two RBI.


Okoboji is 6-9 (4-6
Siouxland) and travel to non-conference Manson- Northwest Webster on
Thursday.

 

The Okoboji softball team was shut out, 8-0, by
Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley last night.  It
was the 15th consecutive win for the Nighthawks.
