It was a good pitching matchup on
Monday as Emmetsburg hosted Hull Western Christian and HWC would win 1 – 0. It
was scoreless thru the first 3 innings and then in the 4th inning,
the wolfpack scored the games only run on a 2 out infield single from Kenzie
Bousema that scored the pitcher Jasmine Vanderzwaag.
HWC scored 1 runs on 8
hits. They were led by Kenzie Bousema as she went 2 – 3 with the games only
RBI. The pitcher Vanderzwaag was 1 – 3 and scored the games only run.
Emmetsburg had no runs on just 3 hits and they were led by Jenna Chapman, Ashton
Connelly and Kendall Deitering each getting a hit. The E’hawks biggest threat
came in the 2nd inning when they had bases loaded and 1 out and
failed to score. The winning pitcher was Jasmine Vanderzwaag going 7 innings,
giving up 0 runs on 3 hits. Ashton Connelly took the loss going 7 innings with
1 run on 8 hits and striking out 7.
HWC improves to 13 – 6, 6 – 4 and
will host Storm
Lake on Wednesday.
Emmetsburg falls to 7 – 15, 2 – 8 and will be at Laurens Marathon
Tuesday.
The Western Christian Baseball team edged Emmetsburg, 7-6,
last night, as the Wolfpack scored the only run of the seventh inning to get
the win.
Greg Wesley was 4-for-4 at the plate, for the E-Hawks, with
three RBIs. Zach Anderson was 3-for-4
with two doubles and one RBI. Jake
Jackson was 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI.
The E-Hawks are home, tonight, against Manson-Northwest
Webster.
