Great pitching paced the E’hawks and Tornadoes on Monday night as the game took only 1 hour and 33 minutes. Storm Lake scored a run in the 1st inning, a run in the 2nd and a run in the 5th inning and that would be all they needed in a 3 – 1 victory. Emmetsburg would score a run in the 4th inning to make it 2 – 1 at that point but SL would put up an insurance run and hold on. Emmetsburg had 1 run on 3 hits. Luke Jackson, Joe Jackson and Zach Anderson each had a single. The lone RBI came from Dillon Van Oosbree. Storm Lake had 3 runs on 6 hits. Aaron Krier was 2 – 4, Nic Seaman was 2 – 3 and Ethan Kenkel had an RBI.
The winning pitcher was Aaron Krier, he went 7 innings giving up 1 run on 2 hits while striking out 10 and walking 3. The losing pitcher was Luke Jackson going 6 innings giving up 3 runs (1 earned) on 6 hits while striking out 9 and walking 3.
Storm Lake has now won 8 in a row and improve to 16 – 3, 9 – 3 and will host Estherville on Wednesday. Emmetsburg falls to 8 – 11, 1 – 11 and will be at Lemars on Wednesday.
