Emmetsburg received the opening kickoff and started at their own 20. They would drive the length of the field in 4 min 53 seconds and score a 2 yard touchdown by Greg Wesley. Emmetsburg would go for 2 and get it. The E’hawks also got 5 first downs on that drive. That set the pace of the game and Emmetsburg never looked back. In the second quarter HMS was down 8 – 0 and had it 4th and goal at the 1 and did not get in, on the next play Emmetsburg got sacked in the end zone for a safety and made it 8 – 2. After the free kick and a 3 and out for HMS, Emmetsburg got the ball back and scored again with 5:41 left to go in the half on another Wesley touchdown. The E’hawks would add another before half when Allen Jensen ran for 46 yards to pay dirt. Emmetsburg led 20 – 2 at half. In the 4th quarter, Emmetsburg added another TD run by Jensen to put them up 27 – 2. HMS would get their first touchdown with 55 seconds in the 4th quarter when Logan Rozeboom scored from 9 yards out and make the final score 27 – 9.
Emmetsburg was led by Greg Wesley and his 100 yards and 2 touchdowns. The E’hawks also had 95 yards and 2 touchdowns from Allen Jensen and 75 yards from Aaron Bird. Thru the air, Zach Anderson was 3 – 7 passing for 43 yards. The E’hawks had 328 yards of total offense and 21 first downs. Hartley Melvin Sanborn was led by Logan Rozeboom with 61 yards rushing and 1 touchdown. Hunter Kuehl had 58 yards as HMS totaled 184 yards of offense and 10 first downs.
Emmetsburg improves to 4 – 3, 4 – 0 in the district and will be at South O’Brien next Friday on Y 100. HMS falls to 3 – 4, 2 – 3 in the district and will be at North Union next Friday on Q 102
