The Iowa Lakes Community College Wrestling team is preparing for the 2013- 2014 season under the helm of second year Head Coach Cody Alesch and graduate assistant Matt Mincey. The Lakers have two returning athletes from last season’s team.
“Cody Cline and Ashes Dean are our only two letter winners returning,” Alesch said. “We are looking for some great leadership from both of those young men.”
Coach Alesch is looking forward see how the freshman class matures throughout the year. “These young men will need to step up like they are upper classman to help their team reach its full potential,” he said. “If they push each other individually and collectively to improve every day, we will have several guys making a name for themselves by the end of the season.”
The season opens for Iowa Lakes on Nov. 2 in Mason City against NIACC.
“We have four home duals this season and also won the bid to host the Regional Tournament which is our National Qualifying event,” Alesch said. “That will take place in the Spencer High School Field House on Sunday, Feb. 16.”
