Harris-Lake Park looked to be in firm control of a 20-0 game at Remsen St. Mary’s but the Hawks came storming back in the second and third quarters and made the most of HLP’s miscues to pick up a 52-32 victory. HLP was down two touchdowns with 11:07 to go in the game when Ryan Gembler returned an interception to the RSM one yard line. Brady Van Iperen ran it in to make the score 34-26 with 8:20 to go. The Hawks responded though with touchdowns in their next two possesions to put the game out of reach.
The win puts RSM in the Class 8 Player State Playoffs while the Wolves’ season comes to an end. RSM was balanced offensively with 199 yards through the air and 167 yards on the ground. Elliott Conover had six catches for 124 yards and two touchdowns. Brady Harpenau threw three touchdown passes in total for the Hawks who are 4-5 (4-3).
They travel to Newell-Fonda to open the post-season. Van Iperen had 25 carries for 102 yards to lead the Wolves on the ground. He also threw for 205 yards including two touchdowns and two interceptions. Cole Bosma caught six balls for 100 yards including three touchdowns. HLP finishes at 4-5 (3-4). Seniors Bosma and Dalton Snow and foreign exchange student David Schurtenberger finish their careers for the Wolves.
