Undefeated Fort Dodge St. Edmond’s offense shined and Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn struggled to keep up in a 49-7 win for the Gaels in Class 1A First Round Playoffs on Wednesday night in Fort Dodge. The Gaels led 14-0 at the end of one quarter, 28-0 at halftime, and put the game out of reach for good in the third with two more touchdowns.
T.J. O’Tool had 135 yards on the ground including a 25 yard rushing touchdown for St. Edmond’s. Five different players scored for the Gaels. St. Edmond’s had 346 total rushing yards and hosts Manson-Northwest Webster in the second round of the playoffs on Monday.
HMS was led offensively by Hunter Kuehl. He had 85 rushing yards including a 42 yard rushing touchdown. The Hawks graduates eight seniors from a squad that went 4-6 overall.
