Girls
It was all Western Christian from the beginning as they outscored Emmetsburg 21 – 6 in the 1st quarter and never looked back winning 65 – 31. Western Christian scored the games first 7 points before Emmetsburg got on the board and they would hold the E’hawks to 6 points in each of the first three quarters. The wolfpack would have 9 different players score, shoot 58% for the game and they were led by Kenzie Bousema with 14 points. Emmetsburg was led by Ashton Connelly with 13 points.
Emmetsburg falls to 9 – 7, 7 – 4 and will be at Spirit Lake Tuesday. Hull Western Christian improves to 16 – 1, 11 – 0 and will host Sioux City Heelan on Saturday.
Boys
The boys game between HWC and Emmetsburg was a good one with both teams trading buckets in the 1st quarter and HWC led 22 – 19 after 1. In the second quarter Western outscored Emmetsburg by 13 points and didn’t look back after that beating Emmetsburg 89 – 66. Both teams would shoot the ball very effectively as HWC shot 48% and Emmetsburg 42% for the game. The long ball was working as well. Western Christian drained 13 three pointers while Emmetsburg put in 11 from beyond the arc. The wolfpack had 4 players in double figures led by Taylor Miedema with 9 three pointers, good for 27 points. Emmetsburg also had 4 in doubles and were led by Erik Drost with 19 points, Austin Krause with 18, Michael Pugh with 16 and Mike Myers with 11 points.
Emmetsburg has lost 6 in a row and fall to 5 – 11, 2 – 9 and will be at Spirit Lake Tuesday. HWC improves to 15 – 0, 11 – 0 and will host Sioux City Heelan Saturday.
