Western Christian Basketball Sweeps Emmetsburg

Girls

It was all Western Christian from the beginning as they outscored Emmetsburg 21 – 6 in the 1st quarter and never looked back winning 65 – 31.  Western Christian scored the games first 7 points before Emmetsburg got on the board and they would hold the E’hawks to 6 points in each of the first three quarters.  The wolfpack would have 9 different players score, shoot 58% for the game and they were led by Kenzie Bousema with 14 points.  Emmetsburg was led by Ashton Connelly with 13 points.

Emmetsburg falls to 9 – 7, 7 – 4 and will be at Spirit Lake Tuesday.  Hull Western Christian improves to 16 – 1, 11 – 0 and will host Sioux City Heelan on Saturday.

Boys

The boys game between HWC and Emmetsburg was a good one with both teams trading buckets in the 1st quarter and HWC led 22 – 19 after 1.  In the second quarter Western outscored Emmetsburg by 13 points and didn’t look back after that beating Emmetsburg 89 – 66.  Both teams would shoot the ball very effectively as HWC shot 48% and Emmetsburg 42% for the game.  The long ball was working as well.  Western Christian drained 13 three pointers while Emmetsburg put in 11 from beyond the arc.  The wolfpack had 4 players in double figures led by Taylor Miedema with 9 three pointers, good for 27 points.  Emmetsburg also had 4 in doubles and were led by Erik Drost with 19 points, Austin Krause with 18, Michael Pugh with 16 and Mike Myers with 11 points.
