Troy
Larson, Director of Athletics, announced the hiring of Megan Bezdicek to serve
as the head volleyball coach for the Lakers in 2014.
Last
season, Bezdicek served as the Assistant Volleyball Coach for Iowa Lakes.
Bezdicek, a Jackson, Minn. native, is a graduate of Augustana College in Sioux
Falls, S.D., where she was a 5-year participant for the Viking’s Volleyball
team. While at Augustana, Bezdicek captained the squad in her final two seasons
and was a three-time NSIC academic all-conference member. She was also a member
of the 2008 regional team.
Before
Augustana, Bezdicek was a standout athlete for Jackson County Central High
School. During her prep career she was a four-year letter winner in volleyball,
basketball and softball. She was an all-conference, all-area, and all-state
selection in both volleyball and softball her junior and senior seasons as well
as all-conference and all-area in basketball her senior
campaign.
Bezdicek
earned her Bachelor’s degree from Augustana College in Athletic Training in 2012
and in Biology and Secondary Education in 2013.
“Megan
is very passionate about the game of volleyball and has a very good volleyball
mind,” Larson said. “She is committed to serving her student athletes and
helping them mature both on and off the floor.”
The
Laker Volleyball program has a notable history and tradition that Bezdicek
believes she can continue.
“I
am extremely excited about this opportunity and look forward to the challenge of
continuing the success of Iowa Lakes Volleyball and to helping these
student-athletes to be successful both on and off the court,” she
said.
Bezdicek
will also be serving as a retention specialist at Iowa Lakes.
