ILCC Men’s Golf At NJCAA National Tournament

The Iowa Lakes Men’s golfers wrapped up their final round at the National
Tournament held in Plymouth, Indiana.  For Iowa Lakes Blake Orton finished his
final round shooting an 87.  Austin Sweeney fired a 74.  Sweeney finished in a tie
for 14th place.  With Sweeney’s finish he made the All-Tournament Team which goes
to the best 18 finishers of the Tournament.  He also was named NJCAA 2nd Team
All-American with his finish.  Both players are sophomores for the Lakers; Blake
Orton is from Heyward, Wisconsin and majored in Wind Energy, Austin Sweeney is
from Sutherland, IA and majored in Construction Tech.

“I have to give a
lot of credit to these guys, they were great to be around all week and both
their two years while at Iowa Lakes.  They will be greatly missed, these two fine
men plus Nate and Joe were great kids to be around for 2 years and will be
successful in life.  It has been great to see them grow as young men. I know
Blake didn’t want to finish his tournament this way today but it happens.  Austin
had a goal all year to make it to Nationals and is taking home some hardware.”
Said Coach Andy Soper

Sweeney is the 3rd All-American at Iowa Lakes in
the last 20 years.  2nd in the last four years.  In that 20 year span he is also
the highest finisher at the National Tournament with a tie for 14th place.
