Estherville Baseball Has Big 1st Inning To Defeat Emmetsburg (1)

Estherville started hot in their lakes conference
baseball game against Emmetsburg, scoring 8 runs in the first inning en route to
an 11 – 0 victory over Emmetsburg in 5 innings on Wednesday night.  In the first
inning, ELC would send 12 batters to the plate scoring 8 runs on 8 hits.  They
would add 3 more runs in the 4th inning on 4 hits and end the game in 5
innings.  They would finish with 11 runs on 12 hits and they were led by Alec
Wycoff who went 3 – 4 with an RBI and Carsten Bosch and Corey Reeves were each 1
– 3 with 2 RBI’s.  Every starter had at least one hit for Estherville. 
Emmetsburg would be held to just 3 hits, one each from Jacob Kibbie, Aaron Bird
and Joe Jackson.
 
The winning pitcher was Austin Egeland as he went 5
innings giving up 0 runs on 3 hits while striking out 5.  The losing pitcher was
Luke Jackson going 4 innings giving up 11 runs (9 earned) on 12 hits while
striking out 3.  Estherville improves to 14 – 6 and 7 – 5 in the lakes and will
travel to LeMars Thursday.  Emmetsburg falls to 13 – 10 and 4 – 6 in the
conference and will host Storm Lake Thursday on Y 100.
