Spirit Lake baseball finishes regular season

Spirit Lake played their final regular season baseball game of the year Thursday night, droping a contest to 2nd ranked Sioux City Heelan 7-6. The Indians carried a 4-0 lead into the 5th inning, but Heelan would score 4 in the 5th, and 3 more in the 7th to get the come from behind win. Cole Thate took the loss on the mound in his first start of the year, giving up 6 earned runs and striking out 6. From the plate, Thate had a big night, going 3-3 with a homerun and 3 rbi’s. Keaton Leach was 3 for 4 with an rbi. Spirit Lake enters Friday night’s 1st round post season game against MOC Floyd Valley with a 15-8 record. MOC is 21-8, including a win Wednesday over Spirit Lake 7-2. The Dutch also beat the Indians back on June 10th 7-4. You can hear Friday night’s game on KUOO. It will be played around 7:15 PM, after the conclusion of the Boyden Hull Rock Valley and Sioux City Heelan game that begins at 5 in Orange City.
