(Spirit Lake)– Final numbers are in when it comes to voter turnout in Dickinson county for Tuesday’s election. Jordan Moyer of the Dickinson County Auditor’s Office says they’re off the chart…
“You know our number that’s on there for registered voters on the Secretary of State’s website for election night reporting shows that there’s 14,685 registered voters that’s active and pending, and there’s about 12,600, just a little bit more than that, of just active voters. So you’re looking at a 65 to 75 percent turnout for Dickinson county.”
She says that far exceeds 2022…
“I ran some numbers back in 2022 which I believe was 29 days of absentee voting and with absentee and election day for 2022 we had a total of 7,461. We had done absentee voting for about 3,149 people back in 2022 and this election we had 5,280.”
Moyer says the numbers for election day itself this year were also very impressive…
“So on election day, we had 4,343 this year and in 2022 we had 4,312, so you’re looking at like numbers so it was very, very busy. It was chaotic but it ran very, very smoothly with all of our great precinct workers.”
The high turnout is being attributed to the federal and state contested races, along with the bond issue referendums locally.
