November 04, 2026

(Undated)– Several bond issues have been defeated in today’s (Tues.) election.

A $69.9 million measure in the Spirit Lake Community School District was soundly defeated. 2,917 voted no while only 1,891, or only 39.9 percent, were in favor.

In Lake Park, a $4.6 million bond issue for a new joint fire-EMS facility did receive a simple majority but fell well short of the 60 percent needed for passage. 286 voted in favor while 273 were opposed.

Voters in the Emmetsburg Community School District once again rejected a bond issue for a new elementary school. While it did receive a simple majority, the 54 percent approval fell short of the 60 percent needed for passage.
