Huskies renew rivalry with Windom in regular-season finale

The Jackson County Central football team welcomes Windom Area to Swearingen Field in The Battle for The Paddle on Tuesday night.

The 6-1 Huskies lost for the first time in nearly three calendar years after Luverne escaped with a last-second victory this past Wednesday. JCC hasn’t suffered back-to-back losses in nearly six years and will get the top seed and first-round in Section 3AA. The Huskies only trail Redwood Valley in Class AA scoring with 44 points per game and a balanced approach. The Huskies defense is ninth in class with 14 points allowed on average.

The 0-7 Eagles are young and banged-up after back-to-back four-win seasons. The offense averages nine points per game with a pair of shutouts at the hands of Minnesota Valley Lutheran and Martin County West. The Eagles defense is allowing 39 points on average.

JCC is looking to add to a 20-game winning streak against Windom and has never lost a Battle for the Paddle. The Eagles last beat the Huskies in a 2008 playoff upset. The Paddle wasn’t introduced by the local Lions clubs until 2009.

Coverage begins at 6:40 with the kickoff schedule for 7:00 p.m. on KKOJ Radio.
