The Martin County West football team visits United South Central on Wednesday looking to extend a four-game winning streak.
The 5-1 Mavericks blanked St. James on Friday to register their fourth shutout of the year and have outscored opponents 130-0 in Trimont this season. The Mavericks are scoring 40 points per game which is ninth-best in class and allowing about 10 points on average which is eighth-best in class. MCW is also sixth with a 31-point positive scoring differential.
The Rebels are 1-5 overall against stiff competition entering Wednesday. USC ranks in the bottom eight in Class A by scoring nine points but surrendering 37 points per game this season. The Rebels escaped 8-6 against winless Lewiston-Altura two weeks ago after an 0-4 start but lost in their second shutout of the year to state ranking vote-getter Southland last week.
