(Spencer)– You’ll have another opportunity this fall to do some trout fishing locally. The Iowa DNR says about 1,500 rainbow trout will be released at 20 locations this fall.
The DNR’s cool weather trout program brings the fish to areas that cannot support them during the summer months. Locally, a rainbow trout stocking will take place November 7th at Stolley Pond in Spencer. The program is funded by revenue from the trout fee.
Anglers needs to have a valid fishing license and pay the trout fee to fish or possess trout. The daily limit is five trout per licensed angler with a possession limit of 10. Children 15 or younger can fish with a properly licensed adult but must limit their catch to one daily limit. The child can purchase a trout fee which will allow them to keep their own limit.
