Lake Park Fire Chief Says They’re Listening Closely To The Public Leading Up To Emergency Services Facility Bond Vote

October 06, 2026

(Lake Park)– As we told you previously, voters in Lake Park will decide the fate of a $4.6 million proposal during the November 3rd election for a new emergency services facility that would house the fire department and ambulance service. It would be built on three and-a-half acres of land on County Road M-27 on the south edge of Lake Park, across from the Presbyterian Church.

Fire Chief Brandon Ehret says the city’s ambulance service, in particular, will be reaching a critical crossroads in coming years if nothing is done…

Ehret says it’s a similar situation for the Fire Department…

Ehret says a recent townhall meeting on the upcoming referendum brought up the impacts on property taxes. He says it’s something they aren’t taking lightly…

Ehret adds he feels confident they’ve done their due diligence in researching various options, including ones brought up at the recent townhall event…

In the meantime, Ehret encourages anyone with questions, or those wanting to see the existing facilities, to contact either him or Mel Zevenbergen.

The November 3rd measure will require a 60 percent or greater super majority for passage.
