(Spencer)– The Vice President for Economic Development and Industry Relations at Iowa State University will be putting on a presentation in early November in Spencer.
Larry Wajda, Regional Director for the Northwest Iowa Small Business Development Center, says David Spalding will be speaking at 10:00 am Monday, November 2nd at the Spencer Campus of Iowa Lakes Community College…
“He was the interim president there at Iowa State University and is currently the Vice President for the Business College and for the economic development sector. He’s doing a tour of the entire state of Iowa to kind of talk a little more about what Iowa State offers communities, business leaders, their approach, and kind of the mission of their land grant program.”
While the presentation is still more than a month away, Wajda is encouraging those interested to get signed up now…
“And that’s because we’re expecting a large turnout for this. You know, it’s very rare that we’re blessed to have the leaders of our public institutions come out and do some outreach directly and to be able to speak to people one on one, which intends on doing. The capacity that we have is actually limited to only 70 individuals for that day and so yes, we are asking that people register early.”
Wajda says there are several ways to do that…
“They can contact my office at Iowa Lakes Community College. The phone number is 712-580-8619. I can email them the Google form. We’re not data collecting, it’s literally just names, number of people attending and what organization they might be representing or just themselves. This is completely cost free and it is open to the entire public. Again the direction more is going to be for communities and business leaders but anybody is welcome to attend.”
Spalding’s office at ISU also serves as the state headquarters of America’s SBDC Iowa, the program Wajda oversees in northwest Iowa.
