(Ruthven)– No injuries were reported Thursday in a house fire in Ruthven.
Firefighters were called to 1104 Scott Street shortly after 1:00 pm. Authorities say the owner of the residence, who is also a member of the Ruthven Fire Department, was taking a shower when the smoke detector started going off. He discovered the smoke was coming out of a closet beneath a staircase.
He safely removed some dogs, got a truck from the fire station and started fighting the fire as fellow firefighters were arriving. The Dickens and Graettinger fire departments were called for assistance.
Smoke damage was reported throughout the house. The cause is under investigation.
Firefighters were on the scene a couple of hours.
