(Arnolds Park)– The Storybook Walk at Wildcat Stadium in Arnolds Park is about to re-open. The attraction had to be closed this past spring due to damage. Kara Rice, head librarian at the Arnolds Park Public Library, says new hardware for the storybook walk arrived recently and has been put into place…
“We were originally hoping to have the storybook walk up by the 4th of July weekend however due to some production delays we had to postpone that about three and-a-half weeks, but we did receive the storybook walk podiums. The city guys were amazing in getting those ready to go for us and we are excited to have a story ready to go this coming Friday, so we hope everybody will come out and take a look at the new improvements to the storybook walk and see the amazing Wildcat Stadium that everybody loves to play at.”
Rice says the materials for the new storybook walk are much more durable…
“So originally we had done kind of a version of a homemade podium just to see what the interest would be in having a storybook walk. Those obviously deteriorated quite quickly over the course of the three years they were there so we were able now to purchase podiums from a company called Peniere who creates all of the podiums for national parks, zoos. These are completely climate proof, water proof, as well as have an anti-glare to keep our stories from fading as they did with our other storybook walk. So we should be able to not only keep this going year round, but also be able to kind of reuse some of the stories throughout the years.”
Rice says she’s especially grateful to the Arnolds Park Library Foundation for their assistance in getting the storybook walk back up and running…
“They were able to help cover some of the costs as we continue to look for sponsors for some of those podiums so that we didn’t have to have a whole year go by without a storybook walk at Wildcat Stadium.”
The story book walk is located along a paved trail that traverses the outer perimeter of Arnolds Park’s Wildcat Stadium.
