Harris-Lake Park Childcare Steering Committee Invites Public to Town Hall Meeting
The Harris-Lake Park Childcare Steering Committee invites the public to attend a Community Childcare Town Hall Meeting on Monday, August 17, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Harris-Lake Park High School Auditorium.
Community members are encouraged to attend to learn about local childcare needs, hear the results of a recent childcare study, provide input on community needs and recommendations, and help shape the next steps for childcare planning in the Harris-Lake Park area. Families, childcare providers, employers, educators, elected officials, and all interested residents are welcome.
Community leaders, families, businesses, educators, and local organizations have been working together through the Harris-Lake Park Childcare Initiative to better understand local childcare needs and explore opportunities that support the future growth of the community.
The Steering Committee recently partnered with the City of Lake Park and First Children’s Finance to complete a Childcare Market Analysis to develop a Strategic Plan to address identified needs. The study identifies a growing need for additional childcare availability and reinforces the important role childcare plays in supporting working families, strengthening the workforce, encouraging school enrollment, and sustaining long-term community growth.
The Town Hall will provide an overview of the study’s findings, discuss current childcare challenges and opportunities, gather community feedback, and outline potential next steps for addressing local childcare needs.
Community input will play an important role in shaping future childcare solutions. Whether you are a parent, employer, educator, childcare provider, grandparent, or community member, your perspective is valuable. By working together, the Harris-Lake Park community can identify priorities, build partnerships, and create a stronger foundation for children, families, and future growth.
