(Des Moines)– The latest data from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources’ Beach Monitoring program issued Thursday (July 30th) shows elevated levels of E-coli at two public beaches in the Iowa Great Lakes. Swimming is not recommended at Emmerson Bay on West Lake Okoboji and Crandall’s Beach on the north side of Big Spirit Lake.
Public swim areas at Marble Beach and Ainsworth Beach on Big Spirit Lake, along with those at Pikes Point, Gull Point and Triboji Beach on West Lake Okoboji had levels below the threshold and were listed as okay for swimming.
