(Emmetsburg)– The Emmetsburg School Board has entered into an agreement to purchase land for a new elementary school.
Information posted on the district’s Facebook page says it’s contingent upon voter approval of a bond issue for the new school. It doesn’t mention a purchase price of the land. The site is located near the Emmetsburg campus of Iowa Lakes Community College.
The post goes on to say that community members are gathering signatures to put a referendum for the general obligation bond for the new school on the November 3rd , 2026 ballot.
School officials say the new facility is needed for a “safe, secure and modern learning environment where children can learn, grow and succeed.”
