DNR Recommends No Swimming At Two Popular Beaches In Iowa Great Lakes

June 15, 2026

(Undated)– The Iowa DNR is recommending no swimming at two popular beaches in the Iowa Great Lakes after recent testing turned up high levels of bacteria, specifically E-coli.

The affected areas include Crandall’s Beach on the north side of Big Spirit Lake and Emerson Bay on the west side of West Lake Okoboji.

E-coli bacteria can cause illness and infections if ingested.
