Huskies finish third place, set new wins record in romp

The Jackson County Central softball team finished off the winningest season in program history and captured third place in the Class AA State Tournament with a dominant victory over St. Cloud Cathedral on Thursday.
The Huskies earned their 27th win of the season 11-1 in five innings against the Crusaders.
JCC head coach and Section 3AA Coach of the Year Morgan Christopher says the achievement belongs to the entire program.
First Team All-State selection Bailey Finck delivered her third hit and RBI of the day to score Tressa Withers and walk off the run-rule victory.
Second Team All-State selection Hadley Wachal dominated again in the circle with eight strikeouts during another five-inning gem.
The Crusaders managed just one walk, one hit, and one run. She also doubled once and walked twice.
CJ Pauling collected a single and a pair of sacrifice RBIs.
Clara Brinks finished off her high school softball career with a record-setting victory.
Kinley VanDeVere broke the single-season JCC record for runs scored and set 41 as the new mark with a pair on the day. She also hit a double, walked twice, and stole three bases.
Mady Wachal had a pair of hits including a double, batted in one run, and scored once. Cora Pauling had a pair of hits and RBIs. Kelcie Sillman pinch-hit a single and eventually scored. Miley VanDeVere and Braelyn Boogerd each singled, plated a run, and scored twice.
