FINCK SETS MORE RECORDS IN CLUTCH HUSKIES WIN

Bailey Finck broke a pair of records while leading the Jackson County Central softball team to a clutch comeback win over Wabasso in a state-ranked clash on Thursday.
The Huskies outlasted the Rabbits 7-6 on the road for a 17th straight win.
Finck made it 1-0 JCC with a solo home run in the top of the first inning. That gave her the single-season RBI record for JCC. The previous record was held by Moira Carlson with 39 in 2014.
Finck batted in Kinley VanDeVere with a sacrifice fly and Cora Pauling scored on a passed ball in the third.
Wabasso scored once in the fourth before tying the game with a pair of runs in the fifth.
Braelyn Boogerd tripled to plate Miley VanDeVere and put the Huskies back in the lead 4-3 in the sixth.
Wabasso took the lead for the first time 6-4 with a trio of runs in the bottom half of the sixth.
Finck came through with a clutch three-run home run in the top of the seventh and JCC slammed the door shut in the home half. Finck’s game-winning homer reset her own single-season school record with her ninth home run of the year.
Finck finished with five runs batted in on her pair of homers and scored twice. Kinley VanDeVere and Cora Pauling each had three hits and scored twice. Kinley VanDeVere’s day included a double as well.
Hadley Wachal took home the win with nine strikeouts, five walks, five runs, and two earned runs among five scored in 5.2 innings. Kelcie Sillman finished off the game with three strikeouts and allowed one run on two hits in the final 1.1 innings.
The 20-1 Huskies visit St. Peter for the Big South Conference championship game on Friday.
