EAGLES TOO MUCH FOR HUSKIES IN WINDOM

The Jackson County Central baseball team had a late comeback attempt denied by Windom Area on Thursday at Island Park.
The Eagles shut the door for a 13-8 victory over the Huskies.
JCC started the game by taking the 2-0 lead when Ben Gallagher led off with a triple, Jace Jorgenson scored him with an RBI double, and Carson Kolander brought Jorgenson home with a sacrifice RBI.
The Eagles responded by batting around and scoring four runs in the bottom of the first.
JCC got a run back when Holden Stumpf led off with a walk and later scored on a Gallagher RBI single to make it 4-3 Windom.
The Eagles collected five more runs in the home half of the second for a 9-3 lead.
Kolander led off with a double and scored on a Ryan Fricke RBI single to make it 9-4 Windom.
The Eagles scored once more in the home half to make it 10-4 Windom.
JCC scored again when Talan Holm scored on a Haiden Warmka RBI single in the fourth to make it 10-5 Windom.
The Eagles built their biggest lead at 13-5 with two runs in the fifth and one more in the sixth.
JCC loaded the bases for the second time in the game during the seventh. Kolander, Kain Titterington, and Stumpf each walked aboard and RBIs went to Levi Thompson on a walk, Kash Gilbert on a hit by pitch, and Jorgenson on a single before Windom closed it out.
Ben Gallagher started the game and had four strikeouts with only two hits allowed. The Eagles also collected 10 runs with three of them earned plus 10 walks in four innings. Levi Thompson gave up three runs with two of them earned on two hits plus a pair of strikeouts and walks in two relief innings.
The 5-9 Huskies have lost four straight games but a three-game homestand begins on Friday against Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial. The 6-7 Knights are looking to snap a five-game losing streak. First pitch is at 5:00 p.m. at Wacker Field.
