The fourth-ranked Jackson County Central softball team powered its way to the Senior Day doubleheader sweep against Redwood Valley on Thursday night.
JCC launched five home runs over the fence during a pair of run-rule victories. Huskies senior home run queen Bailey Finck had a trio of homers on Senior Day to go with one homer from fellow senior Hadley Wachal and another from Mady Wachal.
JCC took the first game 11-1 in six innings.
Finck went yard twice and doubled while batting in four runs. Hadley Wachal brought a pair of runs in with her homer. She also struck out nine Cardinals with just one hit, earned run, and walk allowed.
Mady Wachal had a pair of RBIs and scored once. Cora Pauling had a pair of hits and scored twice. Cora and senior CJ Pauling each plated one run as well. Kinley VanDeVere, Miley VanDeVere, and Alexa Hanson all scored once.
JCC finished off the night with a 12-0 victory in six innings.
Finck and Mady Wachal each did yard work in the second game. Finck had another pair of RBIs for six on the day and scored twice. Mady Wachal batted in another pair of runs and scored once. She also tossed 10 strikeouts with just three hits allowed as well. Clara Brinks had a pair of hits, plated a pair of runs, scored twice, and walked twice on her Senior Day.
Cora Pauling doubled, plated a run, and scored three times. Miley VanDeVere had a pair of hits including a double and scored twice.
Hadley Wachal had two hits and brought another run home. Kinley VanDeVere plated a run and scored once. Brielle Tufvesson had an RBI. Baylie Holmes scored once.
The 14-1 Huskies have won 11 straight games. They clinched the Gold division on Thursday with an 11-0 record so far in the Big South and will play in the conference title game next Friday, May 15.
JCC is hosting the Shelly Hotzler Invitational tournament on Saturday. The Huskies begin with Albert Lea at 9:00 a.m. before playing either Chatfield or Glencoe-Silver Lake with an 11:00 a.m. first pitch. The fifth-place and seventh-place games begin at 3:00 p.m. The championship and third-place games are at 5:00 p.m. with all of the action at the JCC Softball Complex. Kimball Area, New York Mills, Pipestone Area, and Worthington complete the eight-team tournament on Saturday.
