FINCK MAKES HISTORY WITH WALK-OFF HOME RUN TO LIFT HUSKIES PAST SAINTS

Bailey Finck set a new school record with her walk-off home run that lifted the Jackson County Central softball team to the extra-inning victory over St. James Area on Monday.
Finck smacked a two-run homer in the bottom of the eighth inning to help the fourth-ranked Huskies overcome the Saints 4-2 at home.
The senior is the new home run queen at JCC with 16 in her career. Marita Rasche hit 15 homers from 2010-2013 for the previous record.
Finck batted in a trio of runs on the day including an RBI triple in the bottom of the fourth. Cora Pauling crossed the plate to score on the triple and game-winning homer.
The Saints led off the game with a solo home run for the initial 1-0 lead. Finck’s RBI triple tied the game and then Brielle Tufvesson laid down a sacrifice bunt to bring Finck home and make it 2-1 JCC. The Saints tied the game back up in the top of the seventh before Finck’s historic homer sent everybody home.
Cora Pauling added a pair of hits and Braelyn Boogerd had a double.
Hadley Wachal tossed 13 strikeouts in her eight-inning performance with the two earned runs allowed on eight hits plus one walk.
The 11-1 Huskies have won eight straight games with a visit to St. James on Tuesday.
