The Martin County West baseball team ended a brief homestand with a loss to GHEC-T-ML on Wednesday.
The Mavericks dropped an 8-1 decision against the Jaguars.
The Jags took a 1-0 lead in the first inning before breaking open the game with five in the third. Talon Ebeling scored on a wild pitch for the only MCW run in the fourth. The Jags scored their final two runs in the fifth.
Preston Cepress, Liam Pytleski, Kaleb Kennedy, and Huxley Clow each had one hit for the Mavericks. Cepress, Maddex Faber, Colsan Anderson, and Kade Fennern each drew a walk.
Noah Meixell took the loss after allowing six runs with three of them earned on three hits while also dealing five strikeouts and 11 walks in 3.1 innings. Cepress allowed two runs with one of them earned on three hits to go with five strikeouts and two walks in 3.2 relief innings.
The 2-6 Mavericks visit Mankato Loyola on Thursday.
The Crusaders are 7-3 overall after back-to-back wins.
First pitch is at 5:30 p.m. at Franklin Rogers Field.
