Robinson Funeral Home To Open Second Location In Spencer

April 20, 2026

(Spencer)– Robinson Funeral Home officially announced today (Mon.) plans to build an additional facility in Spencer. Owner Korey Robinson tells KUOO news they have been seeing an increase recently in requests for services from families in the Spencer area and that expanding has been a goal of his. He adds his son will soon be graduating mortuary school and will be joining the staff.

Robinson says the Spencer facility will be located just east of Kwik Star at the North Y and will feature a number of amenities, including plenty of off-street parking and a double canopy…

“We’ll be able to access more vehicles at a time when people are picking up or dropping off, a little more protection from the rain when people are again dropping off, picking up. Our chapel is going to be featured to seat about 150 people. We plan on having a second lunch facility but still under the same roof. It will be closed off from the rest of the facility which can offer a second visitation room, so again, two visitations at a night or if we have overflow, if we’ve filled up 150 people in our chapel we can seat another 100 plus in that facility where we’ll be able to pipe in the service that’s happening into that room so they won’t have to have any overcrowding or people standing. It will also be used as a community room so after hours if you’re having a family event or a graduation or you want to use it for a meeting of some sort, the community will be able to come in and use that and it will be locked off from the rest of the facility so they’ll be able to privately use that for their own function.”

Robinson adds the new facility, like their location in Spirit Lake, will also include an onsite crematory. A groundbreaking ceremony will be held this Thursday at 11:00 am. Robinson says officials with the city of Spencer will also be on hand for the ceremony…

“We’re one of the first properties to take over a lot in the North Y and so they’re going to be visiting about some of those business opportunities for other businesses to come and join us.”

Robinson says dirt work just recently got underway, with the project scheduled for completion in late 2026. He says they’re planning for a ribbon cutting in December.
