(Spirit Lake)– The June 2nd Primary Election is rapidly approaching, with early voting getting underway in just a few weeks. Jordan Moyer oversees elections at the Dickinson County Auditor’s Office…
“So yeah, absentee voting starts May 13th, which is 20 days before the election, which is what it’s been for the last couple of years. That’s the first day that you can come in to our office to absentee vote and also the first that we’re able to mail out absentees to the domestic voters.”
She adds there are a few things you need to keep in mind for the primary…
“In order to be able to cast a ballot in the primary election you have to either choose between Republican or Democrat. Libertarian is not on the ballot this year. And another thing to add on there is that if you are declared a no party currently, you can change when you come to either vote in our office or when you fill out that absentee form, you can change your political party on that form.”
Moyer says you’ll also be able to do that at the polling site June 2nd.
When it comes to turnout, Moyer expects the numbers to be up…
“You know we have three supervisor races that are up this year with two contested races, and then we also have a contested State Senator race in our county so I do see our numbers being a little bit higher.”
