LARSON LEADS MAVERICKS IN ST. JAMES SEASON OPENER

Knox Larson led the Martin County West golf effort during the season-opening varsity quadrangular in St. James on Thursday.

Larson posted 40 on nine holes at St. James Golf Course to finish second place by two strokes at four over par and led the MCW boys to a fourth-place varsity finish.
Carson Scheff shot 47, Riley Ebeling and Xzavier Moore tied with 61, and Jonah Striemer shot 70 for the Mavericks.

The MCW boys collected 209 behind event host and winner St. James/Madelia with 188, GHEC-T-ML with 194, and Minnesota Valley Lutheran with 200 among varsity teams.

Morgan McCorkell scored 56 to lead the MCW girls and finish fourth place individually. The team took fourth as well.
Clare Paulson posted 59, Mya Smith and Clare Striemer tied at 67, and Aaliyah Bolstad shot 80 for the Mavericks.


GHEC-T-ML paced the girls with 232 ahead of MVL with 239, St. James/Madelia with 247, and MCW with 249 in the varsity team scores.

The Mavericks are scheduled to visit Jackson County Central for the Huskies debut at Valley Brook Golf Course in Lakefield on Tuesday.
