Plans For Privately Owned/Operated EV Charging Station On City Property In Arnolds Park Are Off The Table

April 09, 2026

(Arnolds Park)– A request by a company to construct a four-bay electric vehicle charging station on city-owned property in Arnolds Park is apparently being dropped. As we reported previously, a Sioux Falls-based firm was seeking permission to construct the facility in a city parking lot on Dewey Street under the water tower.

City Clerk Linda Nase told the city council Wednesday the city’s Building Committee is instead recommending an E-V charging station be constructed in a portion of the parking lot of the new city complex currently under construction. Those plans are now being implemented into the project. She added the committee is also recommending the charging station be owned and operated by the city as it would be located on public property.

Nase says another concern with the water tower parking lot was over some parking spots that would have been eliminated, adding to existing parking issues in that area during the summer.
