(Undated)– The Iowa Department of Insurance and Financial Services has kicked off its third annual Stop the Scammers statewide fraud education campaign. This year’s campaign will visit 20 communities throughout Iowa, with a session planned locally in Spencer on Wednesday, April 15th. It will begin at 8:00 am that morning at the Clay County Regional Events Center.
The sessions are also being made possible by the Iowa Attorney General’s Office and the American Association of Retired Persons of Iowa. Officials say they’re intended to educate Iowans about the types of scams impacting the state and how people can protect themselves, especially when it comes to online and cryptocurrency scams in the digital age.
They add with the rise of and continuing innovation in digital technology and artificial intelligence, or AI, scammers are creating new sophisticated, clever and emotional tactics to con people out of their hard-earned money.
The events are free but those planning to attend should RSVP. You can do that by clicking here.
