(Arnolds Park)– Crews with Boji Towing and Recovery and the Arnolds Park-Okoboji Fire and Rescue Dive Team late Friday (March 20th) retrieved the Rotary Club Car from Smith’s Bay at the Arnolds Park Public Beach.
The car went through the ice on February 18th. Erin Reed, a board member for the Iowa Great Lakes Rotary Club, says this is among the latest they’ve retrieved the car…
The clock that was retrieved from the car stopped at 10:16 am, when it became submerged. The person who purchased the ticket with the time closest to that is the winner of $1,000. This year’s winner is Bonnie Anderson.
Reed says the proceeds from the car drop each year go to support a number of causes the club sponsors, most of them related to youth. The contest has a longstanding history…
Reed says they fell short of selling all the available tickets this year for the simple fact the car wasn’t on the ice that long.
This year’s February 18th date of when the car went through is the second earliest that’s happened in the history of the contest.
