Two Employees Of Jackson, Mn. Ambulance Service Placed On Administrative Leave As Part Of Ongoing Investigation

(Jackson, Mn.)– Two employees with the Jackson Ambulance Service have been placed on administrative leave. One of them has been arrested on charges of criminal sexual conduct.

In a post on Facebook, city officials say it stems from “ongoing employee investigations”. One of the employees has since resigned, and one was arrested as part of the matter. It isn’t certain if that’s the same person who resigned. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says 28-year-old Elijah Camarillo of Jackson, a supervisor of the Jackson Ambulance Service, was arrested February 14th in Wisconsin on a warrant charging him with criminal sexual conduct. Jackson county authorities say it stems from a report of sexual harassment they received. Camarillo remains held by authorities in Wisconsin awaiting extradition proceedings.

Regarding the ambulance service, the city of Jackson retained an independent investigator in November, 2025, to investigate the service and its operations. City officials say the probe “will include the most recent employee complaints”. They add that Minnesota data privacy laws prohibit them from releasing any additional details at this time.

They note that the Jackson Ambulance Service will “continue to provide high-quality emergency medical services to the community without being affected by the ongoing employee investigations.”

The service has come under intense scrutiny after a $750,000 operating deficit was disclosed. As we reported earlier this week, the city recently appointed an “Ambulance Advisory Board” to come up with options to reduce the deficit.
