(Spencer)– 2025 was another busy year for the Spencer Economic Development Corporation, or SEDC. Chairman Jason Warren gave an update at Monday’s Spencer City Council meeting…
“Which included administration of approximately $1.2 million in commercial grants to help with flood recovery. We have reviewed and made recommendation on the lots at the North Y to the city council. We have gotten some land appraisals done which include at the North Y, just to figure marketability pricing, etcetra on that. We’ve been working on a development plan of a land use for the west 100 acres. We have sold the immediate Moose Pond property for re-development to Talon Development which is the new apartment buildings on the southeast side of town, and then we served as lead agency in procuring the daycare study.”
Warren says 2026 looks to be just as busy for them…
“We remain committed to working in a partnership with the city. We appreciate the city’s continued support and collaboration, look forward to continued progress in 2026.”
Eight people serve on the SEDC which operates in conjunction with the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation.
