No Parking Signs Go Up Along Portion Of West 4th Street In Spencer For Upcoming West 18th St. Bridge Project

January 20, 2026

(Spencer)– No parking signs have gone up along a stretch of West 4th Street in Spencer.

Public Works Director Mark White says it’s in conjunction with the West 18th Street bridge replacement project. West 4th Street will serve as a detour while that project is underway. White says the no parking is intended to address potential safety issues due to the increased traffic volume expected on that Street…

“The fire department brought it to our attention that sometimes that can get tight in there if meeting a semi or an emergency vehicle going the other way. Chief Warburton and myself reviewed that and the no parking signs went up. They went up a little early. We probably could have put them up this week but with the weather this week it probably was a good decision. It’s all part of the project and you can anticipate them to stay in place through the duration of the bridge.”

The project is scheduled to get underway Monday, January 26th, with completion set for the fall of 2026.
