(Undated)– All eyes are once again on the weather. A winter storm watch goes into effect for the region this (Tues.) evening and runs through Wednesday morning for the possibility of a ground blizzard.
While very mild conditions are expected today (Tues.) with highs reaching well into the 30’s, the National Weather Service says an arctic cold front will move through by this (Tues.) evening bringing a very strong northwest wind with it that could gust to nearly 60 mph at times through the night tonight (Tues.) into Wednesday morning. Forecasters say that will result in extreme blowing and drifting of any loose snow cover causing possible ground blizzard conditions with very poor visibility.
They add there is a possibility however for some rain to develop as the day goes on and if temperatures do get warm enough, that the combination of those things could form a crust on top of the snow cover, limiting any blowing or drifting.
Anyone with travel plans should continue to monitor conditions and forecasts.
