Voters In Emmetsburg CSD Voting On Not One, But Two Measures Nov. 4th

October 28, 2025

(Emmetsburg)– Voters in the Emmetsburg School District will vote on not one, but two special measures when they head to the polls November 4th. As we reported previously, one of them would provide up to $25.62 million for a new elementary school and for improvements at an existing facility.

The second, if approved, would allow the Emmetsburg Community School District to raise its debt levy limit to $3.25 per $1,000 of valuation. Superintendent Cory Jenness says, however, the district will not need to levy the full $3.25 allowance for the proposed projects.

Both measures require approval from 60 percent of voters.

The new 65,000 square foot elementary would be constructed on 25 acres near Palo Alto County Health System and Iowa Lakes Community College. The classroom wings at West Elementary would then be demolished with the rest of that facility transitioning into a rent-generating childcare center under an agreement with the Spencer YMCA.
