Spencer, IA – It’s easy to be overwhelmed in the demands of daily life, especially after stressful events. Iowa State University Extension and Outreach-Clay County, NAMI Iowa/Project Recovery Iowa, and Clay County
Behavioral Health LINC are pleased to announce a community education event, “Self-Care in Challenging Times.” This event will be offered twice on Thursday, February 27th. The first session is Noon-1:00 PM at Iowa
Lakes Community College Spencer, Room 1 8A, with lunch being provided to registered participants. The second session is 6:30 PM-7:30 PM at the Clay County Extension Office in Spencer with childcare available on-site.
In each session, attendees will explore six simple strategies to help them recharge and stay grounded. They’ll choose a few strategies that best fit their life and create a plan to incorporate them into their routine, helping
them feel more balanced, energized, and strong every day. “Each one of us in our communities have been through a lot,” says Jill Barr, Outreach Navigator for Clay County Behavioral Health LINC. “Everyone experiences stress in their lives and oftentimes neglects their own well-being. We want our communities to take advantage of this free opportunity designed to empower them with knowledge and tools that promote resilience and hope.”
Both sessions of this event are free and open to the public and local resources will be shared. Pre registration is encouraged to ensure adequate materials for all participants. To register, please visit
