FAMILY NATURE NIGHT

August 23, 2024 – 5:00pm-6:00pm – Dickinson County Nature Center

We are seeing signs of wildlife preparing to migrate, and fall is just around the corner. Have you ever wondered about wildlife’s obstacles and difficulties while on their journey? 

Dickinson County Nature Center staff are hosting Family Nature Night: Migration Frustration at the nature center on August 23rd from 5:00-6:00 p.m. The evening consists of several activities, including a story and activity that reinforces the idea of how geese fly south. Depending on the weather, we might enjoy some time outside for the activity and story, so prepare to dress accordingly. After that, families will play a board game called Migration Frustration to learn about challenges of nature while migrating.

Family Nature Night was initiated to bring families together and reinforce important conservation and environmental lessons. 

“My hope is to show kids the hardships animals face during migration, some of which are caused by people. Perhaps by learning about the struggles these animals face, we can brainstorm and implement ways for people to help,” said Danika Cox, environmental education coordinator of the Dickinson County Nature Center.
