Muni Band at Flagfest

The Spencer Municipal Band, under the baton of Tom Rutt, will
be opening the summer music series as part of Spencer’s
festivities for Flagfest on Sunday, June 9 at 2:00 pm at the
bandshell in East Leach Park. The band is made up of area
musicians and is supported by the city of Spencer and the
Spencer Community Schools.
“We are so glad to be a part of Spencer’s Flagfest this year,” said
co-director Katie Bush. “It’s great to help Spencer celebrate
Flagfest,” stated Rutt. “Spencer and this area have been great
supporters of the arts and our band is grateful to help welcome
everyone to a full weekend of festivities,” said.
The band will be continuing the longtime tradition that was
brought back last year of having guest announcers from the
community. The first announcer for the band this season will be
longtime voice from KUOO, Jason Jacobs. Jacobs is currently a
financial representative with Thrivent Financial in Spencer.
The band will be saluting America as part of Flagfest with a
variety of patriotic songs including “God Bless America” “Armed
Forces Salute” and “Star Spangled Spectacular.” Band marches
such as “Semper Fidelis” and Edwin Bagley’s “National Emblem”
will also be part of the program
