Legendary drummer John JR Robinson will be visiting friends…
Free to the public. Estherville VFW, 314 South 1st St, will be serving a burger (beef, pork) basket meal starting at 6:00pm and going through the concert. Volunteers represent 16 communities. The program will include the Star-Spangled Banner and the Ukrainian National Anthem. In addition, the program will include traditional concert band songs and jazz standards, including John Philip Sousa’s “The LIberty Bell” march, Howard Hanson’s “Chorale and Alleluia”, “American Big Top” depicting the American circus and other Americana tunes, “Lil Darliin” written for the Count Basie Orchestra, and the jazz tune “Metropole” named after the Metropole Cafe, which was a jazz club that operated in New York from the mid-1950s through 1965.
