(Arnolds Park)– Voting for this year’s University of Okoboji Winter Games cheerleaders has concluded and the results are in. This year’s eight cheerleaders will include Rob Catlin, Kolette Delperdang, Charlie Leissler, Katie Luinstra, Rob Rodriguez, Brandon Vodraska, Heath Williams, and Vicki Willison. Kiley Zankowski, Director of Marketing and Events for the Iowa Great Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce, says they were thrilled with the amount of people that cast ballots for cheerleaders this year…
“We had a record breaking amount of over 1,100 ballots that we counted this year, so really exciting. You know, adding on that online voting option, it sure opened it up to people near and far. It’s just really fun to see everybody get excited and vote for those top eight cheerleaders.”
Zankowski adds that the excitement is mounting for this year’s Winter Games, and she says they’re optimistic the weather is going to be more conducive leading up to the big event…
“We’re very excited that those cold temps are finally showing up. We’re hoping that it creates a good sheet of ice for our events in just a couple of weeks. Stay hopeful for that. Just know that Winter Games is never cancelled so. Things may look a little different this year and we’ll rope the public in on that information as soon as it’s made official, but just stay patient, stay hopeful. We’re really looking forward to all of the events. They all will happen, but just might look a little different this year.”
This will mark the 44th year for the University of Okoboji Winter Games.
